Imaginez-vous dans le confort d'un plaid portugais !

Imagine yourself in the cosy nest of a Portuguese plaid!

Originally, the term "plaid" referred to a piece of tartan used as a cape by Vikings in harsh climates. Today, the term is used to refer to any blanket you can wrap yourself in.

What are the advantages of plaid?

A plaid is relaxing.

A plaid brings well-being and promotes relaxation: Wrapping, warm and soft, plaids allow you to snuggle up on a sofa on chilly evenings, extend an evening outdoors or warm up in bed.

A plaid enhances the decor.

A plaid adds a personal touch to a room's decor: placed on a sofa or armchair, its color, pattern or texture reinforces the presence of a generally neutral sofa or armchair.

Plaid is easy to care for.

Cotton plaids, in particular, are machine-washable, so can be used every day without any restrictions or precautions.

A plaid, the perfect gift.

A universal gift, plaid is suitable for women and men of all ages. Available in many colors and patterns, it's easy to find the one that best suits the recipient's personality. Finally, it's a useful gift that lasts for years.

How to choose a plaid?

The size of the plaid.

A 180x130cm throw is generally considered sufficient for snuggling up on a sofa. A very generous 220x200cm is enough for two. Most comfortable throws fall between these two dimensions.

Our Portuguese plaids measure approximately 210x140cm, making them very comfortable for one person while maintaining a reasonable weight.

The plaid material.

Wool plaids of various qualities are preferable in very cold environments, as wool is the best material for retaining heat. On the other hand, wool plaids don't stand up well to machine washing, so they're harder to care for, and their cost is not insignificant.

Velvet plaids offer a luxurious-looking texture, their look is rather sophisticated and so they are well suited to elegant, traditional interiors. Velvet is an insulating material, so these plaids can be used in cooler seasons.

Cotton plaids are an excellent compromise: they retain heat very well, especially as they are tightly woven; they are very soft and hypoallergenic, unlike wool plaids; they are antistatic; there are many patterns and colors to choose from; and above all, they are very easy to care for, as they are machine-washable.
