Xarão bitter almond liqueur is a sweet almond liqueur with a low alcohol content (16°). It is perhaps Portugal's most traditional liqueur, made in the Algarve region of southern Portugal.
It can be enjoyed as an aperitif, digestif or cocktail. In Portugal, it is often drunk chilled, accompanied by lemon juice and crushed ice.
