This Tawny Port is made from selected grape varieties from the Douro region. It has a beautiful red color with golden hues, and offers fresh, delicate aromas reminiscent of spices and dried fruit, acquired during aging in oak.
On the palate, it's an elegant Port with a good balance between ripe tannins and smoothness, and an attractive, long finish.
This Port is perfect with caramel or coffee desserts, apple tarts, traditional creams... It also pairs well with strong or blue cheeses such as Roquefort. It is also perfect as an aperitif when served slightly chilled.

More informations ?
Founded in 1751 by the Ferreira da Régua family, producers and merchants of Port wine, Ferreira is the only Port wine company that has always been in Portuguese hands. It expanded considerably in the 18th century, purchasing and cultivating some of the Douro's finest quintas. This impressive work was continued in the 19th century, thanks to Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira (a direct descendant of the Ferreira family).
Under her leadership, Ferreira reached a unique level, continually investing in new and better vineyards, more efficient production processes, careful aging of wines and maintaining stocks of old wines.
Tawny Port or Ruby Port ?
Ruby Port ages in oak casks for 2 to 3 years. As there is little contact with the wood and little oxidation, it preserves its original taste. The result is a fruity, young wine with a wild berry aftertaste and intense flavor. As its capacity for evolution is not very high, it should be opened between 3 and 5 years after bottling.
Tawny Port ages in oak casks for 2 to 3 years and is then transferred to French oak barrels. Because of its prolonged contact with wood, it ages more rapidly, undergoes strong oxidation and therefore presents a more complex taste of dried fruit, such as figs or walnuts. It is therefore a less intense, sweeter wine, where the presence of wood is noticeable. Tawny has a great capacity for evolution, and can age in bottle for decades.
